Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Stimulate Insulin Release: GLP-1 medications help the pancreas release insulin, lowering blood sugar levels.
Suppress Glucagon: They inhibit glucagon, a hormone that increases blood sugar, promoting better glucose control.
Slow Gastric Emptying: These drugs slow down digestion, leading to a gradual release of nutrients and reduced blood sugar spikes.
Enhance Satiety: By promoting a feeling of fullness, GLP-1 medications help reduce food intake and support weight loss.
These medications have become increasingly popular in telehealth weight loss programs due to their dual benefits of improving metabolic health and promoting sustainable weight loss. When used under medical supervision, GLP-1 medications can be a powerful tool in managing obesity and type 2 diabetes, making them a cornerstone in modern telehealth weight loss strategies.

General injection steps may include:
1. Choose an injection site
Commonly recommended areas include the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites as directed by your provider to help reduce irritation.
2. Clean the area
Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry before injecting.
3. Prepare the medication
Using an insulin syringe, draw up the exact dose prescribed by your provider from the vial provided. Always verify the correct units based on your written dosing instructions, as vial concentrations may vary.
4. Administer the injection
Gently pinch the skin and insert the needle as instructed by your provider, typically at a 90-degree angle or, in some cases, a 45-degree angle depending on the injection area and body composition. Slowly press the plunger until the medication is fully delivered.
5. Remove the needle
After the medication has been administered, remove the needle and apply light pressure to the site if needed.
6. Dispose of materials properly
Dispose of used needles and syringes in an approved sharps container according to local guidelines.
